There is no "great" extra opportunity with gallop 5 (contrary to gallop 7 that opens the gates to competition at a higher level.)

As long as I remember, gallop 4 has an European level recognition. But nothing more with gallop 5.

It's just a step. It means you are climbing another stage...

PS : You're on a French forum... The answers you'll have will be from persons who want to practice their English.

Everything has been said above

And as mentioned, don't count on any Frenchie to reply in English to your questions, besides those who are linguistically interested in any way.

It's almost a miracle to come across anyone who is at all somewhat fluent in English - but don't count on there being many forum members among them who are also fluent in the technical terms, equestrianwise...

alexsunny123 as the other said galop 5 is just a step. In France, we go from galop 1 (beginner) to galop 7 (confirmed). If you want to start the competition, you will need a certain level depending on the competition you're doing. I'm not sure but I think it's galop 2 to start competing, galop 4 for club 1, galop 6 clubs elite, and then galop 7 to start competing in ?amateur? level.

alexsunny123 are you from the UK. If so, the galops are like the BHS stages but more divided.

There is a total of 9 but most people stop at 7 as it it the one that open the authorisation to compete in "amateur" let say affiliate competition. Before that there club level competition (kind of unaffiliated competition). There each classes have a minimum galop requirements but not lower. If not change you need at least the galop 2. I must be wrong as it has been a long time I have competed in France.

As for galop 5 hard to compare to the BHS stages are the the progression are not the same. I would say it must be around BHS stage 2. Rider can ride alone a trained horse, start controlling the incurvation, able to progressively transition in and between spaces; do a course of jump at 75cm. There is also an introduction to cross country checking is balanced on uneven terrain and simple jump. Introduction to dressage lateral mouvement also with a leg yelleding in walk.

Galop 7 is more or less a BHS stage 3 on paper.

But as now there is no official testing center, the level of rider can be quite various depending of the riding centre they had their exam.
