)
Voilà notre texte :
ANIMAL TESTING
“Animal testing” or “animal experimentation” is the use of animals in experiments. It’s used in research as genetic, developmental biology, studies, and biomedical research (substitute in order to understand organism’s roles or to test, confirm toxicity of drugs).
At the beginning (1600) animals were used because people don’t thought that they can suffer.
In the XX century, they decided to use anaestetic and rodents are usually employed (because of the low price, size and reproduction time).
COSMETO
In cosmetics, animal testing is used to ensure the safety and hypoallergenic properties of the products. However, because of the harm done to the animal subjects, this testing is banned in the European Union.
They were applied to the mucous membranes, including eyes, nose and mouth, to test the allergic characteristic, or other reactions.
Currently, we have different alternatives methods. Three methods allow replace animal testing:
In vitro
Ex vivo
In silico
1-> In vitro testes consist of human cells cultures like skin cells, or tests on bacteria.
Test ready relate to mutagenesis, photo toxicity, cutaneous corrosion and irritation.
2-> Ex vivo testes consist to use an explants of skin for example, of rests o plastic surgery. We can take this kind of testes for cutanous absorption and irritation
3-> A test in silico use existing molecular models . We look likeness between our molecule and the ones are in the database and the software predict the action of our molecule on the organism, the skin or an organ. In Europe, the website VEGA have a great database and can be use for replace animal testing.
The most complicated testes to replace are those about lethal dose or reprotoxicity. We will must use in silico testes more easily than in vitro testes.
We had to find those new technologies to answer the Directive and searchers had to innovate and increase searches about parallel methods and them validation.
Désolée pour le pavé
Merci par avance à ceux qui s'y connaissent en anglais
