I'm going to focus on the idea of progress.
During the 60's, a revolving wind blew on England. It's a decade to remember because it represents a turning point in the technological progress and the progressive development of humankind.
What extent the Sixties represent a major turning in the evolution of the society?
In a first part, we will show that it's a great time for technology with a recording about the memories of the 60's, after we will present that music has allowed a liberalization of morals. And in a final part, we will see how these changes have transformed the British society with the emancipation of women with the women's lib and the extract of the movie Made in Dagenham.

Technology and sciences known significant advances that transform societies.
During the 60's appeared the TV and broadcast many sports programs and TV series like Doctor Who. After, color TV and transitor radios were available on the market but families with an average wage couldn't buy them... which reinforced the social divide. Moreover, the 1st man on the moon marked the spirits.
London was the place to be and the big hub of the world. Sciences progress encouraged also cultural changes.

Music knows a great boom and rock is becoming very popular.
The Beatles, the Who, the Rolling Stone or David Bowie... the big names of rock are many but everybody remembering these tunes and continue to sing it. These songs representing anything going in the 60's, especially the psychedelic thing predominant at time, like in Space Oddity or Lucy in the Sky, DB and the B evoke extraordinary sensations due to the taking of drugs. Young generation become emancipated and the love generation diffused the flower power and organized peaceful demonstrations... Also, the British Government deciding to prohibit pop music but pirate radios broadcasting music on the international water and were very popular. The movie the Boat that rocked illustrates it, they encouraging people to skip the school, to smoke drugs, to have a sexual freedom...
It's a great time for cultural changes.

The 60's marked the spirits because women's rights are rooted in society.
In 1968, thanks to the women's lib several, laws were passed to grant more equality to women.
And, the movie Made in D, represents the struggle of women in their fight for equality. Women were underpaid and Rita, the heroine, encounters the Secretary and try to convince them to support her cause and take measures for the Equal Pay. Finally, they have access to the pill, the right to abortion, an equal share of the house in case of a divorce ... And fashion changes with the advent of the miniskirt.
Eventually, the 60's are a decade to remember because of social, moral and technological progresses. These major changes have allowed progress in society.

J'aurai fait sauter les the devant progress et development, il n'y en a pas besoin puisque c'est spécifie et général!
Chez moi on ne dit jamais "humankind" mais "mankind" (après je sais pas si t'as besoin d'un truc formel ou d'un truc d'anglais courant)
