I don't know how they count year in UK , I've just learn it. It's a bit complicated , I just know it by heart ^^.

Today I've learned that a colleague at my new office is leaving the company and the UK for a job in Germany!

I just found out about this post and I have to say it's a very good idea so I'd be happy to join.

For a quick introduction : I'm Elodie, 29yo (desperatly trying to forget that I'll be turning 30 in a few months), owner of 3 horses and currently working as a restaurant manager in the tiny country of Luxembourg.

As most of you I've always had a thing for languages (mostly English and once upon a time spanish as well).
At one point in my life I had the feeling that i could speak English better than French (I just got back from 6 months in NZ, spoke English 99% of the time at work, Boyfriend was... English !) and when i HAD to speak french (with family or some friends) i felt like Jean-Claude Vandamme, using English words in the middle of my sentences without even noticing it.

Unfortunately times have changed ! New job, no more boyfriend. I speak french most of the time and feel like i'm loosing all my fluency.

So... thanks again for the opening of this post !
I'll be following up as much as i can.

At last, a thread I can confidently reply on!
My name is Rick, I'm 43 and own Cheval Direct along with my wife Nicola(sans s ), also 43 years old. Our kids are both fluent in French but it's a struggle for us at our age to learn a new language but we try.
We left "the rat race" in the UK 5 years ago for a more relaxed way of life here in France .

France is very good thanks.
We enjoy every day at our own pace rather than one dictated to us when we worked for other people.
When we arrived 5 years ago I spoke "school boy French" ie. rubbish but I got friendly with a retired old man who helped me with my French. I'm not fluent but can hold my own in most situations.
