Hi girls or boys
and
welcome on...
The post where we speak only in english.

I am found of English.
Unfortunately, I'm not totally bilingual.

That is why I am trying to communicate with others people in English.

So, I open this subject. I would like here we speak only in English.
Therefore, the forum rules will apply.
Good humor, advice to improve ourselves in the practice of this language are welcome here.
And of course, google translator is totally prohibited because it says just about anythings.

I'm sorry for the mistakes

I hope see you soon

Maclem

Hi guys !

I'm soooo happy that there is an English chat !
My name is Chanel, i'm 20 and i really like English ! (since "first primary classe"? -> CP)
I have been graduated of literary bachelor in 2015, with some options -> English literature and reinforced English.

Currently i do not have a job but i will soon participate to an information meeting on a wine/winery tourism training. This includes talking a fluent English (B1 level they said ahah) and.. a good German :? (the basics)

In class, i've always had good grades -> between 12 and 19.. but i have not practice english for over 1 year and a half.. i'm soo scared

Sorry for my errors !

Hey everyone!
I'm so glad to read some english!

I didn't practise since my 'baccalauréat' exams, it's to say for 7 months and I critically lost my skills...
In fact, I'm in an osteopathy school and there's no english class during the two first year I think.

I can't wait to practise again, thanks to this intersting post et thanks to all the chatters of course!

noukie97 as someone said before there's too many students in each class so It's difficult to make progress. But I think the problem is deeper. I have the feeling that some French people just don't want to speak English properly like they keep a strong french accent on purpose not to be laughed at or look too conceited. I was even told by an English teacher that some native kids pretended to have a French accent in order to be accepted (???)

Bonsoir ! Désolée pour le français mais pour un devoir de composition culturelle je cherche la façon dont "...ne manque pas d'échapper à ..." se dit en anglais...
Y a-t-il une traduction spécifique ou est ce qu'on traduit ça littéralement?! Merci d'avance!

I find this topic very good, because there are here people, who speek English fluently, and read their make our English better.

I suppose I maked a lot of mistakes, so if soemone can correct me :)

Sorry, I find this structure rather strange in French, so I can't help you with your translation. Could we have a context?

For instance (in french again, sorry) :

"Les mexicains immigrent aux Etats Unis, ce qui ne manque pas d'échapper à Donald Trump"

"Un élève a insulté le proviseur, ce qui n'a pas manqué d'échapper aux oreilles des professeurs présents à ce moment là"

It's very often a way to insinuate that the actual thing (here the immigration or the insult) will backfire on the subject.

"Ce qui ne manque pas d'échapper" voudrait dire que Trump ne se rend pas compte de ce qui arrive. C'est "qui ne manque pas d'arriver aux oreilles" ou "qui n'échappe pas" non ?
Edit: ou loin d'échapper ?

Sorry, it's the morning, difficult to put my head around it...

Hi all !

I speak English only for my job but I'm not bilingual as much I want to be.

Had an idea about CA and this topic particularly, can we think about french riding expressions to translate here ? Some people says that they've some difficulties to understand what its write on this forum, could be a good help ?
For example :
"Mettre le cheval sur les hanches" = "Bring the horse on his hips"

Maybe some people here knows other translations, which are not so literal than my example ?

brei_zh Hmmm leg yield... Literal translation gives "le rendement des jambes" which means absolutely nothing haha

It seems to be the English of "cession à la jambe", which is when the external leg goes rearward to move the hips of the horse.

"Yield" (as seen on road signs for example) can also mean "give in"... Which makes -much- more sense if you translate it...

Hello,

I'm starting this post again because I think it would be interesting if it were a bit more active. Speaking English can be useful for some people, especially if you want to travel.

So, any motivated people?

See you soon
