Hi girls or boys
and
welcome on...
The post where we speak only in english.

I am found of English.
Unfortunately, I'm not totally bilingual.

That is why I am trying to communicate with others people in English.

So, I open this subject. I would like here we speak only in English.
Therefore, the forum rules will apply.
Good humor, advice to improve ourselves in the practice of this language are welcome here.
And of course, google translator is totally prohibited because it says just about anythings.

I'm sorry for the mistakes

I hope see you soon

Maclem

Wow, why haven't I noticed that post before ?
*Must follow*

So, I guess I should introduce myself :
I'm Malk, I'm almost 25 and like you I think, I do horse ridding and I love English.

I started to learn that foreign language like most of people, around 11. First I wasn't really enthusiast, I hadn't a really good teacher, but with time, I started to like it.
It's when I began to draw for an American website that I really enjoyed it. The webmaster didn't speak french at all and I spent a bunch of time on the forum with English speakers. It's also here that I learn't the most, mainly about vocabulary, expressions and syntax.
Now I can read teenagers books, watch movies and series in English (with or without subtitles, even if I prefer with :') ) and talk with people on the internet.
For the oral however, I'm not really good. I tend to speak to quickly and sputter, and I have a terrible twang. Problem of practicing only on the computer I guess.

So ... Voilà.
Don't know what else to say :')

I was in England this week with my school. It was very funny and my family was perfect, we speak with them a lot !
Some days we had to take pictures of some monuments (as Big ben, the round church in Cambridge ...) so I asked to citizens where it is, and some of them answer in french (my accent is pretty bad xD )

Whatever, did you enjoyed your travel ? I went 2 time to London and I think that next time I go there, I won't come back :')
I don't like big cities but London it's ewh ... Don't know, I'm just in love I guess :p

Hello Malk and welcome !
I recognize myself in what you said about what you can do in english ! can understand and write quite well but speaking is a bit different...

Maybe you could tell us more about horse riding ? It would make us learn some new words if djebeldesierra comes here and is willing to help !

Yesterday I had planned to jump with my pony but during the warming I couldn't make her canter on the left side. She was trying but something was clearly wrong. I let her rest and today it wasn't better so I'm gonna call the "ostéo" (??).

Sorry I've been absent. I had lots of work to do !

Poloche, you say "warm up" not "warming"
And it's an osteopath (nearly the same ).

So if we're going to talk about horses, what about starting with what your favourite breed ?

Hi Djebel and thanks for the correction. I heard the word "warm up" in a french discussion but I think it's used to talk about (how do you say "designer" ?) a type of contest in jumping, so ...

Welcome here ! Of course you can progress by speaking in english with us. Don't hesitate to tell us how your day/week end was !

Yay ! Horse speaking, I'm in :p !

Okay so, favourite breed : surely the haflinger !
Some years ago I didn't really like that breed of ponies, or any breed in fact. I was more in "I like how this horse looks" than "I like every horses of that breed".
But I met my pony and ... I fell in love. haflingers are just amazing. Smart, playful, stunning ... I can't imagine my life with another breed. But as I am very tall (1m77), I'm dreaming of a cross-bred between a haflinger and a saddledbred. Like, everything of the haflinger, but taller :p

Welcome Baily ! If you want me to correct you or help you with anything, I can and will, just ask

Poloche, well 'warm up' is used in the sense "échauffement", so it applies to many situations
I don't know how they use it in the states though
We don't have a specific word for "détente" in the french equestrian meaning.

For 'designer', it's an english word used as such in french so no need for a translation

Malk, good looking pony !!
I have the same issue : I want a horse exactly like my pony, but taller
I don't have a favourite breed either, I meet many wonderful horses of various backgrounds. But I do find native breeds beautiful ! A lot of modern breeds are just a mix of everything and anything, so they all look alike, but native breeds, like Haflingers for example have a unique and untampered look. The same with Fjords, classic Iberian horses, Arabians, Fresians, Welsh ponies
But I find it hard to commit to such a unique style of horse. My pony is half arab, his mother has no breed, and he could be a cross with many things : connemara, iberian horse, french saddle pony, new forest, quarter horse, you name it

Djebeldesierra I agree with you, native breeds have a little something more than other horses.
In fact, I think I love horses round and thick, like haflinger, fjord or Welsh Cob of course, but also some kind of "light" draft horse or half draft.

Poons71 awh, thank you >w<
